Entrepreneur Check-In, Issue No. 2: Quiet...Until It Isn't

Originally written March 2026.

Issue No. 2 is here. And this one is dedicated to that specific kind of freelance week where you do 47 productive things… and the universe just responds with: "...k." Grab a biscoff and coffee. Let's dive in!

FRONT PAGE: THE VIBE

February has been a mix of quiet and motion. The quiet still irritates me (shocking, I know).
But the motion is happening. And I'm starting to see where the levers are.

THE HIGHS (big & small wins)

• I got a new website!

Full transparency: I hadn't updated the format in a decade, just the content. It gave "creativity," but it didn't give "creative leader." So I did a full overhaul: intro video, services page, the works. Now it reflects where I am and what I do.

• I took time for myself when things got hard.

Not glamorous, but real. I didn't bulldoze through it. I paused.
That's new for me. And it helped.

THE LOWS (reality checks)

• Mid-February, I hit a wall of work stress and grief.

The kind where even easy tasks start to feel loud. Thank goodness for therapy.
And for giving myself permission to slow down instead of trying to power through on fumes.

FEATURE STORY: THE POWER OF "NO"

This month I had one of those moments where the opportunity looked "good" on paper… but my body said absolutely not.

I tend to bend and yield in the name of "the best outcome for the team," health be damned. But I was talking to one startup and the culture felt scrappy/intense in a way that didn't sit right. You know: everything is urgent, boundaries are fuzzy, and "we'll figure it out" is the plan.

So I followed up with honesty and told them I'm being intentional about taking on work that's clearly scoped and sustainable for me. As soon as I hit send… relief. Like, immediate.

I felt so proud in that moment. Because it reminded me that "no" is a vote for the kind of work I can do well AND for the kind of life I'm trying to build while doing it.

MARCH TRAILER (coming soon…)

I've got a few conversations in motion right now that feel promising. Nothing I can say yet. But enough to make me sit up a little straighter.

If just one of these turns into what I think it might, next month's newsletter will have a very different tone. 😈

Until then: steady motion.

Talk soon,
Michelle
