Entrepreneur Check-In, Issue No. 4: Hardest? Best? Both!
Originally written June 2026, covering April and May.
It's been a long time, I shouldn't have left you! But now, I'm back and we have some catching up to do in this issue! Pull the Key Lime Pie out the fridge for this one!
First, an update on my mom: She passed in April. Thank you to everyone who kept us in prayer through the thick of it. I feel like I didn't lose her. Instead, I gained an angel on the payroll. Best seat in the house, full view of the whole operation, and I feel her pushing this thing forward daily.
So we keep building. Dorothy would have it no other way.
FRONT PAGE: THE VIBE
May was one of the hardest months of my life AND my best month in business. No one told me those two things could sit side by side, and somehow I came out the other end standing.
THE HIGHS (big & small wins)
• A Side of Greens LLC is OFFICIAL.
It's done! Filed. EIN in hand. Business banking set up. We're about to save on some TAXESSSSS!
• New apartment, new home base.
The rent was too damn high at our old place. So we shifted to a new location for this next chapter.
THE LOWS (reality checks)
• Everything happened at once.
OMG! Moving, funeral planning, and delivering. Please believe I learned to ask for help (and actually accept it lol)
• My car picked this exact moment to bow out.
The Q5 gave up the ghost right when I have the least bandwidth for car shopping. Entrepreneurship: never a dull (or cheap) moment.
FEATURE STORY: HARDEST? BEST? BOTH!
Ok, so I didn't know how grief was going to hit me. I've had years of lead-up to my mom's passing. But still, you never know! Well, the ideating and creative concepting became the things that held me. I'd sit down to write and I was just me doing the thing I love.
I always felt like my mom's mind and professional abilities were brilliant. I'm coming into my own version within my own lane now, with her cheering from the best seat in the house. So when I say I gained an angel to keep the business pushing, I mean it. One of the hardest months of my life produced the best month of my business so far. I don't fully understand it. But I'm grateful for it.
JUNE TRAILER (coming soon…)
Summer is for sustaining. New work is locking, and I'm learning to build at a pace this season of life can actually hold.
Thank you for reading and for the prayers. I felt every single one.
Byyyyyyeeeeeeee!
